Ethical Code

Zen Centrum Rotterdam welcomes everyone. We find it important to maintain an inviting, respectful, and transparent atmosphere. We believe that the foundation of a spiritual life lies in attention and care for ourselves and each other.

Ethically responsible behavior forms the basis of our practice and is essential for creating a safe, reliable environment for everyone participating at Zen Centrum Rotterdam. We assume that everyone takes responsibility for their behavior with the intention of causing no harm and doing good. We strive for integrity and trust, where mutual confidentiality and openness are respected.

We find transgressive behavior unacceptable, whether between teacher and student or among participants. If there is any occurrence of inappropriate or transgressive behavior, Jifu Sensei, the spiritual leader, is the first person to approach. Additionally, within the sangha, Connie van der Arend has been appointed as an internal confidential counselor: vertrouwenspersoon@zenrotterdam.nl

If an internal satisfactory solution is not possible, contact can be made with one of the external confidential counselors of the Buddhist Union of the Netherlands (BUN), of which Zen Centrum Rotterdam is a member.

Our center is also affiliated with the White Plum Asanga and adheres to the guidelines set out in their Code of ethical conduct.
